We had a concert June 21 in Laerdal - at their community center - otherwise known as the Salmon Cultural Museum. The concert was wonderful and we sang to about 100 people.
A good portion were Japanese, and those that were Norwegian sang along with us at the end to "Man Ska Leva". The town of Laerdal is reminiscent of Ouray to some and Bruce ran to the top of one of the outlying mountains. Last night was mid-summer solstice and it will be actually celebrated tomorrow when we are in Karlstad. This is a huge celebration and we are staying in the nicest hotel in Karstad. What is truly amazing is that at midnight the sun is shining and it feels like 8 p.m. Wreaks havoc on the mind!!
The drive today was beautiful; some said like the drive to Breckenridge. The waterfalls are outstanding and the people are incredibly generous of spirit and warmth.
Our driver has continued to be a wonderful resource, as has Geoff Wodell. His knowledge of Scandinavia is exceptional and we are grateful for the guidance!
For the Chorale:
We are all enjoying getting to know each other better - but one big realization is how much we need the entire chorale to create the sound for which we are known.
