City Council Discusses 2010 Budget, Water Pipeline

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the Federal Heights City Council will hold a study session to begin discussing the 2010 city budget, where we consider what projects and services to fund in the coming year. This is one of our most important roles as council members, to help guide the spending of your tax dollars. It would be great to get your input on the budget. Either attend budget meetings or keep reading here in coming weeks and months.

Also on Tuesday night, we will discuss a proposed water pipeline bringing Westminster water from Thornton's tankat the edge of our city through Federal Heights and up to Brighton. It is an important project for those cities that does not directly benefit Federal Heights. We are hoping to decrease the impacts on our city as the pipeline gets built, and perhaps negotiate some benefits for our city's infrastructure.

Finally on the agenda is a decision on contracting with a sign company to build an electronic message sign up near 104th and Federal. Our plan is to use the sign to promote city property on sale and businesses in that area. The Redevelopment Agency is heading up this project to help increase sales tax revenues in the city.

As usual, the meeting is at Federal Heights City Hall, 2380 W. 90th Ave.
