HubCap: What it's like to die
Contributed by: Brendan Leonard/YourHub.com   on 7/13/2006

In 1995, Timothy Miller was in the back of a pickup that flipped while going 95 mph on Interstate 70. The truck flipped four times, and on the third flip, it rolled over him, breaking his pelvis, severing two arteries in his legs, broke all the ribs on his left side, punched holes in his bladder and collapsed one of his lungs, among other things.

He survived, after a drug-induced 45-day coma at Denver General, even thoughafter Day 30, his parents were told he probably wouldn't make it. When he woke up from the coma, he was told he'd probably never walk again.

How exactly do doctors go about putting someone back together again after all that? Well, it's better if he tells it himself. Timothy's taken to writing a blog on our South Aurora Web site. He's written a series of three blogs about his accident and recovery, including his 7 unsuccessful spinal surgeries. If you don't have time to read all three, just read the first one -- after that, you'll find time to read the rest of them.
