I just got back from the annual western regional conference of the Alliance for Community Media. This fantastic organization ensures that all community members have a voice on TV and with video and the internet.
Locally, Federal Heights does not yet have a community media outlet, but I hope that will change within the next four years. Until then, our residents can use the facilities at Denver Open Media, just a 15 to 20 minute drive from most homes in our city.
Learning video production and editing skills is a great opportunity for laid-off workers, professionals in career transition, nonprofit communicators and youth. This week,I want to provide you with information about the youth program at DOM. It is a great, free program - however, our youth have to find somone with a driver's license to get them to the weekly trainings/productions. I hope that doesn't stop anyone who is really interested. (Iam hoping to find some local group that may be willing to provide a carpool service for our local youths to get to DOM.)
Denver Open Media's Youth Production Group
The Youth Group is now a weekly affair
About the group: Do you know a student who dreams of being on TV? How about working behind the scenes? If so, they should
join Denver Open Media's FREE Youth Production Group!
Finally,
the Youth Group is meeting weekly! Now, anyone between the
ages of 12-19 can plan to stop by
any Wednesday from 3:30-6pm to join the fun.
Participants will alternate between learning field, studio and editing techniques. Students will learn how to
produce youth-related content and will help solicit
new youth-related programs. Please check out our
website for more information or email
ann@deproduction.org.

We are always looking for food donations to help keep our youth fed and alert during trainings/productions, please let us know if you have suggestions or information about youth groups sponsorships.
