Blog Entry 98 of 100 Keeping Up With Federal Heights
A place to find out about the latest news in Federal Heights, a small community just north of Denver. Former Federal Heights City Councilmember Tanya Ishikawa updates you weekly on city government issues and decisions and other happenings around town.

Just 30 votes could change this election

One week until election results are out. If you are a Federal Heights resident and you have not returned your ballot in person or by mail, you have 7 days to do it. If you lost or somehow destroyed your ballot, you can request a replacement from Adams County.

Last night,I was looking at results in the last four city council elections and I found that the difference between the person elected and unsuccessful candidates was usually only 27 to 37 votes! Because less than half of eligible Ward One residents are registered to vote and only 30 to 40 percent of those usually vote in an election, the winning votes usually total arond 150. You can see the details below, which I copied from the Adams County web site.

So, as you can see, every vote really does make a difference. If you were thinking your vote was insignificant - believe me, it's an important part of the count.

I'm proud to say that between myself and my campaign volunteers, we distributed nearly 750 fliers to residents in Ward One. I personally spoke to at least 75 voters and we have a few signs up in the yard of our supporters. It has been a privilege to get to know our community better.

Now, the countdown is on and I urge all Federal Heights residents to make a choice in this election and vote for Tanya Ishikawa by Nov. 3.
