Believe me- if you know 10 people, they can make all the difference in an election!
I'm sorry to inform Federal Heights voters and my friends and readers that within two weeks I will no longer be a Federal Heights City Councilmember. I lost my bid to retain my council seat in the Nov. 3 election, by 9 votes. Sharon Richardson received 159 votes, while I received 150 votes, in a very low election turnout.
I thank my many supporters especially the donorsand volunteers who helped me get fliers to most of the doors and mailboxes in Ward One of the city. I also thank all the residents who welcomed me on their doorsteps with encouraging words and shared concerns. Your efforts are appreciated and I am sure they helped make the council race so tight.
And yet, I am not discouraged. I have worked hard on City Council and am glad my fellow council members gave me the opportunity to serve, since they appointed me two years ago. I will continue to follow the issues, support residents' needs and volunteer my time to move positive community projects forward.
I hope you will continue to use this blog as a place where you can learn about important community news and events, and tell your friends, co-workersand neighbors to subscribe to this blog and check it regularly to keep in touch with local happenings.
