High school students, get published

I'm not 100 percent on this, but I'm pretty sure your high school's newspaper isn't going to put your homecoming dance photos on its Web site, nor are they probably going to let you write video game reviews just because you've decided you're an expert on the subject.

Well, YourHub.com will.

And we'll consider all your stories, blogs and photos for our print editions, which go out on top of The Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News every Thursday.

So, if you don't mind the possiblity of thousands of metro-area newspaper readers looking at photos of you and your friends goofing off and getting your hair done before the dance, post them at YourHub.com. If you go to Ponderosa High School, though, Lauren Wood's already beat you to it. Check out her homecoming story and photos here.

And if you've got a thing for video games and want to review them, we've got someone who can show you how it's done. Kyle Hess, of Brighton High School, is equally good with both PlayStation controls and words. Check out some of his game reviews here.

Anything you're into can find its place at YourHub.com -- if your club needs to get the word out about its meetings, or the school newspaper hasn't noticed that your best friend won a debate competition, or your band needs to publicize its next show, register and post it here. Or start a blog and let us know what gossip is floating around the hallways at your school.

Here are a few of our other favorite contributors from metro-area institutions of learning.

Kel Robinson, our man at Arapahoe High School, writes a periodic column on YourHub.com and is also kind enough to share his vacation photos with us from time to time. (After we printed one of Kel's column last fall, an administrator asked us to take it off the Web site. Instead, we asked him to become one of our regular columnists.) Here's his latest piece.

Kelsey Page, of Chatfield High School, likes to post a column every time something gets her thinking, and we enjoy them. Here's the one she wrote about the student's right to use the bathroom.

Katrina Jameson, of Ponderosa High School, posted a story last April about what happened when a member of the Ponderosa poms/dance program referred to the team as a "cult" on her myspace page and the poms/dance coach found out about it.

Rachael Beieler, of ThunderRidge High School, recently has started heading out into her community and doing some reporting and photography. Here's what she found at Highlands Ranch Days.

Kelly Bleck, who's the co-editor of the Lobo Legend at Conifer High School, finds time to double-dip and post stories and photos at YourHub.com as well. Is she putting the same articles and photos in the Lobo Legend? Doesn't bother us if she is.

Bill Setterlind, at Smoky Hill High School, got quite a response out of his article about the flags that adorn the hallways there. Check out his story and the comments it drew. (It also made the cover of our Aurora South print edition.)

We also have a couple of contributors from Fossil Ridge High School all the way up in Fort Collins: Lauren Lopez, who's a photographer and a writer, and Megan Murphy, who found YourHub.com to be a good place to post her poetry.

Robin Ricci, a freshman at Highlands Ranch, is also a regular user, who writes about anything from her first day of high school to her review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
