The Romeo romance in a small town
Contributed by: Priscilla OConnor on 2/14/2007

It started out as forbidden love. Priscilla was the small-town native. At 17 years old, she was itching to get out of the dusty old desert and on with her dreams. Danny had just moved in from a small farm town in Missouri. This was unusual, as most people that ended up in 29 Palms, California were there involuntarily or were linked to the Marine Corps.

When Priscilla met 19-year old Danny at a high school football game, he stood out like a light in the dark, completely apart from her classmates she had mostly grown up with. The attraction was instant, however many obstacles were in their path from the beginning. The big one was that Danny was two years older than Priscilla and had graduated high school, making it impossible for her boot-camp instructor military dad to approve of her dating him.

They were forbidden to see each other. Danny and Priscilla found a way to overcome all the obstacles, finding creative ways to meet in secret as their love grew. The day she turned 18, Priscilla packed her bags and left her parents' home to move in with Danny.

Five years later they broke more rules as they eloped in Vegas, not telling anyone until they returned from their trip. Still going strong aftermore than11 years together, their Romeo romance has grown into a deep and endless love.

The secret of their success? Friendship, respect, and a lot of laughter. A lot can happen and life changes much over 11 years, but the foundation remains the same. Priscilla and Danny currently reside in Littleton, CO.
