Shady Ladies Take Tea at the Library
Contributed by: Ann Myers on 12/12/2005

FEDERAL HEIGHTS - A Victorian tea with heaps of history and a pinch of scandal entertained patrons at the Perl Mack Branch recently.

The branch's genealogy group, along with the Friends of the Library, hosted the tea. About 40 people attended and most donned period costumes.

"The Shady Ladies of Central City, Inc." provided the saucy entertainment. Performers took on the role of five characters based on real women who "shook-up" the Old West, including a Madam from Boulder's Red Light District  to film star Lillian Russell.

The women in the organization volunteer their time for research, rehearsal, costume creation and performances to promote women's history from the late 1800's to early 1900's.
