Last week at the 19th Annual Awards for Construction Excellence (ACE) ceremony, Regis University's new chapel took top honors in two categories. Presented by the Associated General Contractors of Colorado, the ACE awards recognized the work done on the Regis chapel by Fransen Pittman General Contractors of Englewood.
Considered the "Oscars" of the construction industry in Colorado, the ACE awards recognized the new St. John Francis Regis Chapel for project of the year in the $3 million to $10 million range as well as the overall people's choice award for excellence. Other ACE awardees included the new Denver Newspaper Agency building and the Denver Convention Center Hotel.
The new Regis chapel started construction in May 2005. With the help of alumni and friends, $5.4 million was contributed to build the chapel. The chapel opened in August 2006 to the Regis community for Mass, religious studies gatherings and liturgical events.
"This award is important to Regis because it demonstrates the quality of this unique sacred space within the community of contractors and builders who came together to honor not only our general contractor, but the design and distinctive character of the new chapel," said
Tom Reynolds
, vice president for mission.
