Rangers Finish in Fifth at RMAC Championship, Wagner Named RMAC Freshman of the Year
Loveland, Colo--The Regis University men's golf team finished in fifth place at the RMAC Men's Golf Championship at the Ute Creek Golf Course in Loveland, Colo. The Rangers finished the three-day tournament with a total team score of 919.
Western New Mexico University won the tournament as they posted a three-round score of 884. They narrowly edged out the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs who finished one stroke back with a score of 885.
Today's final round proved to be the most difficult round of the tournament due to high winds. After the first two rounds there were five scored under 300. In the final round, not one team finished with a team score under 300.
RU's top finisher was
Blake Sharamitaro
who finished in ninth place with a three-round score of 225. He opended with a 73 then posted a 76 in the final two rounds.
Josh Wagner
tied for 15 with a score of 231 and
Miles Philpy
tied for 22nd with a 235. With his score of 231, Wagner was the top freshman finisher and was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year. Philpy posted his best score on the final day. He shot a 75, which was the second best score on the final round.
