October 19, 2007, Denver, CO - The Colorado Municipal League (CML) is pleased to announce that Joyce Thomas, Councilmember for Federal Heights, has completed the requirements to receive the Municipal Elected Officials Leadership Training Program Century Award. She was presented this award during the CML Fall District 3 meeting held on October 3 in Denver.
The CML Leadership Training Program consists of three award tiers. Over 300 municipal elected officials statewide have completed the initial 30-credit certificate program. Only 139 municipal officials have completed the second segment and only 25 have reached the elite third tier (the level that Thomas reached), which requires 100 credit hours of CML training.
The Training Program was started in January 1991 by the League's Executive Board to recognize the efforts of officials who go the extra mile to increase their knowledge of municipal government and their capacity to lead.
CML is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 1923 and represents the interests of 264 cities and towns. For more information on the Colorado Municipal League, please visit www.cml.org or call 303-831-6411.
