My name:
Bradley "Green" Hanson
Age: 38
My family: Michelle, 37 -wife for over 15 years, Alyssa 12 and Ethan 7.
What I do: I currently work at 32nd and Youngfield for Walgreens as a Manager.
My favorite place in town to hang out: City Hall, communication with the employees as well as meeting citizens I have yet to meet.
What I like most about living here: Our emergency services are the best! We have the best response times for ambulance, fire and police! Whenever you need them, they are fast and they are the best!
My interests and hobbies: My kids are the best thing to watch at their activities and to see them succeed with their academics would make any father proud!
What is my favorite thing to cook: Stuffed Mashed Potatoes. Easy to cook and all of the basic food groups are there and if made correctly, the tast is awesome. Sometimes, it can be a mess to eat!
People who inspired me (and how): My first and utmost inspirational individual would be my dad. I enjoyed the time we spent together as I was growing up, watching football and playing catch, just to name a few. Secondly, I would say my mom's dad, or my Grandfather Durlyn Robinson. He taught me how to fish, along with my dad. I remember so many fishing trips and fun times while I visited with him. He impacted me so much that my son's middle name was his first: Durlyn.
How I have contributed to the community: I have been a member of this community since 1999. Back in 1993 I was a Reserve Police Officer and fell in love with Federal Heights. So, when we were looking and found our home it was a perfect match, one we have never regretted. I returned to work for the city again as a Reserve Police Officer in 2001, becoming a permanent Police Officer in 2003. I left the Federal Heights Police Department to pursue other interests in that same year, namely politics.
It has been something that has always intrigued me, and I thought I'd finally give it a try. I served on the Board of Adjustments from 2003 through 2005. I was elected to City Council in 2005. While on council I have served on the Colorado Municipal League (CML) Police Committee. I have also
attending numerous seminars on leadeship and concerns upcomming for municipalities and our state. I am also a firm supporter of the Community Assistance Program, which City Council established a new board of citizens to run. I am currently a member of the Metro North Chamber of Commerce 2007-2008 Leadership Training Class; improving my leadership skills to better serve my fellow citizens.
My experience also comes from being a former Student Government Association (SGA) President for the Front Range Community College - Westminster Campus. There I dealt with over a 60% budget cut, in turn myself and my fellow SGA members took a 50% paycut. Under my leadership, in which we did more with less, we returned over 10% of are already strained budget back to the students of FRCC.
What are the biggest issues facing your city now: I would say that the biggest issue is our economic development and redevelopment. We need to sustain our current businesses so that we do not lose them to our neighboring metropolis of Westmisnter and Thornton. We also need to recruit new businesses to strengthen and enhance are current tax base, "For a Better and Brighter Federal Heights."
Another major issue is water, this is something that will become harder and harder with all governmental entities due to the urban sprawl and no new water sources.
