No, it was not following the election that RLD decided to close Northglenn - this issue discussed public forums far prior to election (see letter body. No, any election "flyer" did not say the Northglenn library would close, the flyers stated the Perl-Mack Library would close if bond issue failed (see body of letter).
Perchance Chris DeMay came late, far to late, to the Northglenn library issue and its "do-ability," as these problems had been discussed in a public forums, and presented in other form far prior to the November vote.
I participated in the "Save the Library" campaign before it became a voting option and when it did so, I walked my voting precinct, passing out those very flyers that Chris DeMay writes of. The flyers always noted that it was the Perl Mack Library that was to close if the bond issue failed. Public speaking, group presenters always noted that the Federal Heights/Northglenn Library would be in 96 th & Huron area.
After the "library issue" came to the ballot, any information put forth was that of the Northglenn library being used as a "library kiosk" and administration office. I participated in staffing a booth at community fairs, parades and events in a Rangeview Library District community and presentations to the voting public were: The Perl-Mack Library was to be closed if the bond issue was not passed, that Northglenn/Federal Heights Library would be at 96 th and Huron, that the present library would be a kiosk and admin building.
Also, architectural drawings at any particular library noted location of such and in the case of Perl-Mack Library closure (due to a vote fail) where that branch library would be - 96 th and Huron, and some future time.
I also attended library board meetings (far prior to bond issue vote) and when any building area discussions ensued, discussions were always that the Northglenn Library would be part of the new library projected to be built at the 96 th and Huron area.
I believe the voter "Blue Book" clearly stated the Perl-Mack library closure and building plan and locations.
There was also a summer issue RLD newsletter published with the picture of the Perl Mack Library and the headline "Library to Close." The accompanying article explained the RLD budget woes and that Perl-Mack would be the library closing.
Sincerely,
Gladys Tolbert
