Commissioners are a resource
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 1/23/2008

One overlooked resource of help comes from our own Commissioner experiences. What things have remained with you as the powerful moments of learning? What did the GOOD learning times have in common? Turn to your best experiences and incorporated that understanding into your work? You know the value of BEST METHODS, and keeping things moving by creating deadlines, and striving not to short circuit the process.

We should be discussing these issues in committees, either individually or in small groups, corporate citizens and people citizens alike, where cooperation is emphasized. Small groups and lay-community chairmen work to create their own vision. LIKE A CAUCUS.

Changes can, will and must be made, with care, concern and love; courage, compassion, and dedication to make a true long term difference worth making to save FREEDOM in Northglenn. The role of the individual citizen must play in maintaining, strengthening, and preserving freedom. The more assured that we are to preserve it. We shape the political process by our standards, and by our being here.

Invite a guest to our meetings. Try to find someone who will come into our meetings and talk about their experiences.

Look for other materials that perhaps could amplify, expand, or enrich your understanding of the presentation.

It is a process of asking the right questions, than we have ever asked before, and that takes some getting used to. If we are dealing with community outreach, in manageable bite sized chunks, we can do of this fairly, easily, and quickly. How do we make this material stick? How can we bring it to life? Is it repetition? DRILL? Action and Experience? Discussion? Is it the projects and the real end products? The answer is "YES"!!

Commission Decision Making, and plenty of opportunities to help citizens to organized and achieve what THEY want, rather than what you want them to do FOR YOU.

As with a magazine layout and design, enough RIGHT WAYS of doing it leads to that many more ideas can be accepted and used. Leading each citizen in the realization that "my values matter" and "my ideas count."

Community Development is an emphasis of the Commission. Ad if the reaction is, "Well, it seems like a good idea, but our meetings are already full and can't add another thing." Fortunately, we don't have to. This is not an add-on program. It get integrated into current Development outreach systems.

Many suburban communities have their roots in small towns, and even in rural areas, manufacturing typically employs more people than agriculture. Many small communities have made the small town ideal a money maker by catering to urban tourists seeking to enjoy such an environment. The small towns that deliver services typically found in urban areas, such as colleges, hospitals, recreation centers, have fared reasonably well. Communities located near Interstate Highways and cities also have grown. Small towns with a agriculture economy base have not fared as well.
