Franktown, CO - In these days of recession talk, it's good to hear that business is booming in the local economy. Such is the case for a local massage therapist, Carla Ryan, and her company - Rx2 Wellness & Education Center (
www.RyanX2.com). Carla had been working out of her home for over three years when she decided it was time to "go public" with her therapy skills and her company.
In December 2007 she rented a small space in Franktown (on the hill near the Franktown Post Office) and a growing number of local clients and the adjoining businesses are delighted at her arrival. Carla offers therapeutic and rehabilitative massage, using neuromuscular therapy techniques (sometimes referred to as deep tissue massage) obtained through her training at the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy in Colorado Springs. Her passion is facilitating wellness in her clients through bodywork techniques, including assisting them from post-injury to recovery, working with clients in their sports-related endeavors, or aiding others through debilitating pain-related illnesses. Carla is well-qualified to do relaxation-type treatments, too.
Because Carla and her husband, Mike, are also facilitators for the "Becoming a Love & Logic Parent" program and classes, by the end of January 2008 her space was already too small. She moved into larger quarters (next door at 7517 E. Hwy. 86, Unit B), borrowed more furniture from her home and friends, and, since then, growth has been non-stop!! Carla is already anticipating the need for additional square footage in the near future.
Besides the parenting classes, both Ryan's are spiritual practitioners through their church in Parker (
www.CenterOfAwakening.org) and, thus, teach spiritual classes at their Franktown space on behalf of the church organization. They are also available to facilitate weddings, memorials and blessing ceremonies. Rx2offers a weekly book study (Wednesday's Wisdom) and monthly, spiritually-based movies (
The Moses Code will be shown
May 3 at 7:00 p.m. and May 4 at 1:15 p.m.). Carla is considering adding more events, classes and workshops in the months ahead - those focused on wellness for body, mind and spirit, and primarily considered alternative or complimentary therapies - so she encourages clients and all others to check back often...either via the Rx2 website or by calling her office (303) 663-0817. There is also an information box with brochures and flyers located outside her office door...which is locked whenever she is with a client in a massage session. All treatments are by appointment only.
Carla is currently planning the "Rx2 Wellness & Education Fair" on
June 13 and 14 where she will help promote a number of home-based therapists, giving them the opportunity to share their information, skills and demonstrations with the public. The June weekend event (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) will include free chair massages, various demonstrations and different types of energy work, as well as products and other information on unique modalities from local therapists and practitioners. While it may seem unusual for a business to bring competition into its market and client base, Carla's philosophy is simple: "there's enough pain to go around for everyone." That is also part of the reason she has kept her massage rates so reasonable. "I'd rather have people be able to afford a quality massage on a regular basis than only treat themselves once or twice a year because it's generally so expensive in many of the spa-like environments."
And while her growing business has been keeping her busy, busy, busy, Carla's vision for the future is even bigger! But that's another story.
