Franktown Elementary's teacher sponsor
Jaime Martinez
, and student representatives from Kindergarten through 6th grades, make up the Student Leadership Team that lead the way to the great accomplishments that their fellow students can take credit for this school year.
Fifth grader,
Shaye Olander
, explains that the school's original goal was to perform "1,000 Acts of Kindness". Fourth grader
Joe Zahorik
adds that for each act of kindness that a student performed he/she would receive one marble to add to the school's giant glass jar. Second grader,
Daniel Turco
, shared that by the end of the year the students far surpassed their goal and collected almost 5,000 marbles
The Student Leadership Team sponsored service projects throughout the school year including: raising funds and pet products for the Denver Dumb Friends League "Buddy Center", raising donations for The Avon Walk for the Cure by paying to wear a hat, and selling handmade beaded "Hope" bracelets.
The final service project ended this school year with donations from the students and teachers of their no longer needed personal used school supplies. Second grader,
Aisling Kyne
describes the piles of markers, pencils, crayons, folders, school boxes, paper, books, and games that the The Franktown Leadership Team will send to Shanner Elementary in Holly, as the recipients of this Act of Kindness project.
After the March 28th tornado in Holly; being aware and sensitive to the many needs of the students, the golden hearts of the Franktown Falcons, blue skies were seen, as the donations to Shanner Elementary will be received by Principal
Randy Weigum
and Mayor
Tom Crum
next week.
