Visitors to the recent "Art in the Park" Show in Parker may have seen the work of Kiowa artist
Lisa Lee Adams. Lisa is Visual Arts Coordinator at Eaglecrest High School in Cherry Creek School District and also teaches drawing part-time at CCA in Aurora.
After completing a Masters of Art Education at Towson University in Baltimore she felt "the west was calling my name." Having taught art in Middle School for 8 years she was looking for an opportunity to make a change. Six years ago, a flight to Denver and a job interview lead to an offer at Eaglecrest where she now teaches all levels of drawing/painting, sculpture, ceramics and AP Art Studio. Lisa's greatest sources of inspiration come from her students and from nature. She has a "great love and deeply spiritual connection to teaching and art."
Lisa believes that "art is a metaphor for life," that the better observer you become the better interpreter and editor you become as well. "By really observing what life is, we develop our own personal flair for its interpretation and editing." Her passion is obvious in her art. Her remarkable versatility is demonstrated by the many different media that she works in, including pencil, colored pencil, pen & ink, watercolor, black glue, pastels, acrylic, collage, clay and mixed media.
Lisa Adams is also a Certified Massage Therapist and a Yoga Instructor. Clearly her passion for life goes beyond her artistic pursuits. Living in Kiowa with husband Stan, three horses and two cats, Lisa is a member of the
Parker Artist's Guild.
Note: The Parker Artist's Guild meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Parker Mainstreet Center. (Next meeting is 20 th September) For information contact:
