The Rotary Club of Parker collaborates with IREA and Parker Adventist Hospital to award $8,000 to the Women's Crisis & Family Outreach Center (WCFOC)
CASTLE ROCK, CO... The Women's Crisis & Family Outreach Center (WCFOC) is honored to receive $8,000 from The Rotary Club of Parker. These funds were specifically used to purchase desperately needed furniture for a newly expanded Community Outreach room and educational supplies and materials for our Children's Therapy program. These funds and the resulting purchases directly impact domestic violence victims served through our non-residential programs and the region at large in terms of increased awareness and educational opportunities in issues related to violence.
This $8,000 grant was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Rotary Club of Parker, Intermountain Rural Electric Association, and Parker Adventist Hospital. This partnership donated $4,000 that was matched dollar for dollar by Rotary District 5450, resulting in the $8,000 gift. Also, and as shown, eight members of the Rotary Club generously donated their time to assemble the furniture.
Research tells us that women do not heal unless their children are safe and also able to heal, and vice-versa. Experience tells us that these families who encounter violence in their homes need emergency relief followed-up by ongoing, intensive services. Statistics tell us that domestic violence is the most frequent crime in this County (second only to traffic offenses). The fact that it happens right here in our own backyard makes it crucial for our agency to offer local and direct services for victims as well as educational opportunities for our residents, all the while dispelling the myths surrounding the frequency and associated atrocities of these tragic occurrences.
The WCFOC is pleased to partner with The Rotary Club of Parker as we reach out to a population of underserved women and children. Together, we strive to stop the generational cycle of violence and family conflict, and in doing so engage the community in transforming attitudes toward domestic violence.
