MAN ASSAULTED AT HAMBURGER STAND
A 26-year-old Denver man was arrested on suspicion of assault July 13 after he allegedly punched a man at Hamburger Stand, 500 S. Colorado Blvd., atabout 2:30 a.m. Police were alerted by the victim's wife, who followed the assailant and yelled for help from officers on patrol in the 4300 block of East Virginia Avenue. The 31-year-old victim was found in the restaurant parking lot, where he fell and struck his head after being punched. The victim was treated at a local hospital.
MAN PUTS OUT BRUSH FIRE NEAR MOTEL
An Arizona man was credited with extinguishing a brush fire that threatened a motel on Leetsdale Drive on July 14. Police said fireworks apparently ignited the blaze next to Crossland Economy Studios, 4580 Leetsdale Drive, atabout 11:50 p.m. The 31-year-old man told police a crowd was watching from a nearby parking lot, but no one did anything to extinguish the fire as the flames rose as high as the second story. He used two fire extinguishers from the building to put out the flames before police arrived. There was no immediate estimate of damage.
CAR BREAK-IN REPORTED
A 22-year-old woman reported the theft of her purse in the break-in of her car parked at Bally's Fitness, 720 S. Colorado Blvd., on July 14. The woman told police she locked the car and hid her purse under a shirt on the front seat at about 6:40 p.m. When she returned at about 10 p.m., the passenger side window was broken and the purse had been stolen. The purse contained $500 in cash along with credit cards and personal papers in a wallet. The purse and wallet were valued at $150.
OFFICE BURGLARY INVESTIGATED
Police investigated the burglary of Health One offices at 720 S. Colorado Blvd., reported July 14. Between the afternoon of July 11 and 7:20 a.m. July 14, someone ransacked cubicles and used keys to enter offices. One computer monitor, valued at $276, was stolen, along with small amounts of cash from some offices.
PURSE STOLEN FROM SHOPPING CART
A 21-year-old Wisconsin woman reported the theft of a wristlet purse from a cart while shopping at Super Target, 4301 E. Virginia Ave., on July 14. The woman told police her back was turned while she shopped and she noticed the wristlet had been stolen at about 3:30 p.m. It contained her cell phone, driver's license, car keys and credit cards.
