DRUNK DRIVER NETS 11 CHARGES
A 26-year-old Denver man was arrested on multiple charges after a short, destructive few minutes behind the wheel. Police were called to a bar at 320 S. Birch St. on a report of a fight. They saw a man in a pick-up truck hit several cars on his way out of the parking lot and nearly hit a police cruiser. When police attempted to intercept the man, he refused to stop and allegedly made a 40-mph turn across four lanes onto East Virginia Avenue where he hit a wall and coasted to a stop. The man was reportedly too intoxicated to perform roadside sobriety tests and was taken to Glendale Police Department where he was booked for DUI, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, driving without a license, driving without insurance and six charges of leaving the scene of an accident. He was later taken to Arapahoe County Jail.
JACKHAMMER JACKED
An unknown suspect stole a rented jackhammer from the back of a 43-year-old man's truck on Aug. 14, according to police reports. Police say the man went to Home Depot at 860 S. Colorado Blvd. at about 3:17 p.m. and that the suspect pulled up, took the jackhammer from the bed of the man's truck and fled in an unknown direction.
TRUCK STOLEN FROM HOTEL LOT
A man's 1996 Toyota Tacoma was stolen from the lot of Loew's Hotel, 4150 E. Mississippi Ave., sometime between 12:30 and 9:25 a.m. according to police reports. Police were awaiting possible surveillance footage from the hotel at the time of the report.
SMASH-AND-GRAB NETS PRICEY LOOT
A 25-year-old woman's Jeep Cherokee was broken into between 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. Aug. 19 according to reports. The woman told police she had parked at a Wendy's on 4250 E. Alameda Ave. before heading to a neighboring gym. When she came back, a window was smashed out and a laptop and other items were stolen. The total loss was estimated at $4,475.
