MOTHER JAILED FOR SUSPECTED CHILD ABUSE
A 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault, child abuse and reckless endangerment when police responded to her apartment on the 4700 block of East Mississippi Avenue on a report of possible child neglect at about 7:16 p.m. June 8. A witness had told police the woman had been drinking and was seen shaking her baby. Police said the baby was "conscious, breathing and alert" but had red marks at the base of its skull. The child was taken to Denver Health's emergency room for monitoring. The suspect was tested for intoxication and reportedly scored .200. She was processed and taken to Arapahoe County Jail.
TRAFFIC SPAT LEADS TO ASSAULT
A 54-year-old Aurora man was arrested on suspicion of assault after he hit another man, 22, during a traffic altercation, according to police reports. Police say the two were arguing outside their vehicles on the 900 block of South Clermont Street when the suspect hit the man multiple times with his cane at about 1:12 p.m. June 10. The man was processed on misdemeanor assault and released.
CAR BREAK-IN CAUGHT ON CAMERA
Some time between 6 and 11:47 p.m June 7., an unknown suspect broke into a vehicle parked at apartment complex on the 1100 block of South Bellaire Street, according to police reports. The vehicle's owner, a 19-year-old male, told police that the suspect smashed in a window on his vehicle and took an mp3 player from inside. The mp3 player's estimated value was $400 and the estimated damage to the vehicle was $200. Police retrieved video of the incident from the apartment and distributed still photos to patrols.
