Robber would like a BLT and all your money
Police were dispatched to Subway, 320 S. Colorado Blvd., at 10:08 a.m. Aug. 8. Upon arrival, police spoke with a 35-year-old woman who said she was robbed at knife-point. She opened the store at 10 a.m. and a man came in to order a sandwich. When she went behind the counter, the man followed her and pointed a black-handled butcher knife. He took $273 from the register and fled in an unknown direction.
Woman suspects identity theft
At 5:33 p.m. Aug. 4, police were dispatched to the 500 block of South Forest Street on a report of identity theft. Upon arrival, police spoke with a 34-year-old Glendale woman who said she received a call from an Englewood Housing Technician with a HUD report stating the woman receives income from El Pollo Loco. The woman said she doesn't work at the restaurant and believes someone has access or used her Social Security number. She said she frequently checks her bank statements online and no suspicious activity has been posted.
Man's game equipment, shoes stolen
At 2:08 a.m. Aug. 9, police responded to the 1000 block of South Dahlia Street on a burglary report. Upon arrival, police spoke with a 25-year-old man who said at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 8, he had locked his front door, but only closed his front window, leaving it unlocked. When he returned at 2 a.m., he noticed the black strip of his front window screen was hanging. When he was inside the apartment, the man noticed various items missing, including a Nintendo Wii, X-box 360 and Nike shoes, totaling about $1,410. Estimated damage to the window was $50. Police entered the serial numbers for the stolen game equipment.
