Every Monday, I come to work and I spend eight hours putting words and pictures on pages of the newspaper for Thursday. There's a whole system to this concept that I learned in journalism school, that weighs things like "news judgement," which means that the more important something is to more people, the further to the front of the paper it appears. That's why the Broncos get put on the front page of the Rocky Mountain News every Monday during football season, and news about the legislature gets pushed further back. Priorities.
But I throw all that out the window when I'm putting together a print edition of YourHub.com: I usually try to put the faces of local people on the front. Actually, as far as photos are concerned, I put them in the paper in order of importance according to this list:
1. Dogs
2. Kids
3. Everyone else from Golden, Evergreen and Conifer
4. Photos by people from Golden, Evergreen and Conifer
So, if you're wondering if some of the photos you have at home have any chance of making it into the paper, just check to see if they include things on that list.
