SWHEATLEY'S Blogging Buffet
Welcome to SWHEATLEY'S Blogging Buffet. Much like a restaurant buffet, here you will be able to get a little of something or a lot of everything. Some days you will be treated to a few words about my thoughts on life. Other days my words will leave you feeling full. Some choices will be thoughts on life. Other days I may review a movie, a restaurant, or a play. You will read about me, my family, my town, and my travels. You may be hungry for more and visit my blog frequently. Then there will be days you are full and decide to stay away from the buffet. Some days will feature a Daily Special. You are invited to my Grand Opening of SWHEATLEY'S BLOGGING BUFFET on Monday, February 12, 2007. See you then!

What is it about summer and me? Right after spring, I spring into action, making plans for a fabulous summer with family and friends. After such an unusually harsh winter I could hardly wait to grab all of the heat of the summer and savor every minute of it.
Many complained of the 100-degree heat this summer. Not me; I ventured off with our daughter and grandbabies to Phoenix where the temperature in August hit 117 degrees! As I've said before, once it hits 100 degrees, anything over that is just frosting on the cake!
Yes, it's been quite the traveling summer and it's not over yet. I have a special birthday trip later this month ... to Disneyland! Our daughter is treating her mom and her daughter (
McKenna
who is turning 3) to a Disneyland Birthday Adventure! I'm an almost 52-year-old kid at heart so I'm just as anxious as McKenna to go on this trip.
All of this traveling did not keep me from enjoying the many festivities in Golden. I had a great time at the Wild West Auto Round-Up in June and the Golden Fine Arts Festival in August was, once again, absolutely wonderful.
Oh, did I mention that I work part-time? Yes, I have to fit a part-time job in my busy social schedule as well. I coordinate a Golden Greeter program out at the Coors Tour Lot.
I have so much fun meeting and greeting people from all over the world. You should have seen the Chicago Cubs Fans who came on the tour during the games against the Rockies.
Being from Chicago myself, I had a great time with these folks! This past week brought a college student and his friends who proclaimed the first week of school, "Coors Tour Week."
Every day, from Monday through Saturday of this week, these newly 21-year-olds would visit the Coors Tour around 11 a.m. and get in line for their tour, the short tour.
I guess this ritual takes the edge off of starting a new year at school. If I've heard it once, I've heard it many times, "Is this the Budweiser tour?" So many funny people. It's a great job and it really makes me appreciate living in Golden. Every person I talk to lets me know how lucky I am to be living in such a wonderful town.
A lot of time this summer has been spent with family and friends. We had several picnics, we walked the creek, and, yes, we met just about every morning for coffee. With several wonderful coffee shops in town, we always have a nice place to visit with friends and catch up with what is happening in our lives.
The weekends are filled with sailing. Yes, my husband and I have taken up a new sport. He took the lessons. I take instructions from him. I haven't fallen off of the sailboat yet, however, I did have a close call at the dock. Luckily, I fell on the dock and not in the water between the dock and the boat. That would have been a disaster! All in all, I love being on the water.
All of these fun activities have taken me away from my computer. That's not a bad thing! Yes, I've had less time to write but I've had more time to go out and enjoy life with family and friends.
It's September and, before you know it,the snow will be here. I will be here, watching the snow fall from the comfort of my chair in front of the computer, writing, blogging, e-mailing ...
