Don't miss the Colorado Arts & Crafts Society's 10th Annual Show, Sale & Workshops, to be held May 17-18, from 10 a.m.-4p.m. at the newly restored Boettcher Mansion (
Charles Boettcher's
former summer home and hunting lodge located on 110 acres inside the Lookout Mountain Nature Preserve above Golden).
Now owned and operated by Jefferson County as a special events venue, the stone, timber and stucco estate will be filled with antiques, Craftsman furniture and other artisan products and decorative items (books, china, fine art, lighting, pottery, stained glass, textiles, tiles and woodwork) relating to the Arts & Crafts period (1895-1920). Sponsors of the event are L.& J.G. Stickley, Inc. and Ida Lindsey China Company.
Throughout both days, special workshops - focusing on the history of the Arts & Crafts movement, the printmaking revival, modern-day bungalow building and old-fashioned container gardening - will be offered in the Carriage House on the property.
On Saturday (only) from 3 to 4 p.m., noted historian and preservationist
Tom Noel
("Dr. Colorado") will talk about Charles Boettcher and Lookout Mountain. Admission (good both days) is $10 for general public and $5 for CACS members.
Limited lunch menu available on site. The Boettcher Mansion is located at 900 Colorow Road on Lookout Mountain, 5 miles from Exit 254/256 off Interstate 70. For more information (and to peruse the program), visit
