Summer Program Leader & Summer Program Assistant
The Clear Creek History Park is seeking a
Summer Program Leader and
Summer Program Assistant for its "Hands on History" summer sessions. The sessions are for children ages 6-10 and are held for 7 weeks from June 9 through August 1, 2008. (Not including the week of July 4 th). You will be interpreting Golden regional history from the mid to late 1800s in a fun and educational manner. Our historic buildings provide the backdrop for the activities including: a one-room schoolhouse lesson, gold panning, pioneer games, and crafts. At the end of each weekly session, you will host a "Pioneer Pageant."
The
Summer Program Leader will supervise the
Summer Program Assistant and one volunteer Junior Leader. The fast-paced daily program explores history through a variety of hands-on activities. The leader is responsible for managing a group of 20 children each week, leading daily programming, all while maintaining a safe and fun environment. The assistant will assist the leader in these tasks.
Working Conditions:
You will work mostly outdoors, Monday through Friday from 8:00am-3:30pm. Candidates must be able to do the following in 90 F heat: lift up to 30lbs, walk two miles in a half hour while caring for the needs of 20 children, sometimes in historical costume.
Qualifications:
We are looking for individuals who possess enthusiasm, energy, patience, and kindness. Excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills are a must. (The
Summer Program Leader must have professional experience teaching children in either a traditional or nontraditional teaching environment.) Upon selection, the final candidates will be drug tested and given a background check. Current CPR/1 ST Aid certification is preferred.
Compensation:
Summer Program Leader: $10.50/hr
Summer Program Assistant: $8.50/hr
Both individuals may receive free farm chicken eggs and fresh vegetables from our heirloom gardens.
