History Hosts: The Clear Creek History Park seeks two to three responsible individuals to staff our ticket booth and welcome our visitors. Candidates must know how to provide excellent customer service. Individuals will work with the public on a daily basis to take their admission funds and provide a brief orientation to the History Park. History Hosts will handle all visitor service needs in the Park, to include opening and closing duties, gate admissions, cash handling, and visitor orientation; assisting with grounds maintenance; feeding of chickens; assisting with special events. Must be self-motivated team player.
Requires good customer service and money management skills, while working outdoors in extreme heat in historic costume. Ages 17 and up.
Perfect for a college student, studying time likely. This is a seasonal position June-August. Pay range is $7-7.50/hour, depending on experience. A total of 42 hours per week need be covered - preferably split between two or three Visitor Hosts. Saturday hours in May and September also available. Living History Demonstrators: Clear Creek History Park seeks four high-energy individuals to help bring frontier history to life. We are seeking demonstrators who are experienced in showing the public pioneer crafts or skills. Preferred skills include one or more of the following areas: woodstove cooking, blacksmithing, textile arts (such as knitting, quilting or spinning), gold panning, gardening, or woodworking.
Other pioneer skills will be considered. All demonstrators will work as a team with other seasonal staff, contributing to the big picture of the History Park by doing other daily chores necessary to the operation of the museum, assisting with occasional special event set up and clean up, and taking an occasional turn greeting visitors in the admissions booth.
Demonstrators must be able to communicate well with visitors of all ages, especially family groups, and encourage visitor participation when appropriate. Demonstrators will dress in historic costume and need to be able to lift fifty pounds, climb down into sluice box area, and walk a mile in 20 minutes while carrying 20 lbs in the Colorado heat. At least one year of interacting with the public in a living history setting is preferred. A working knowledge of Colorado history is a plus! Museum hours are June-August, Tuesday through Sunday 10-4:30. Individual positions could be between 6 hrs and 30 hrs per week. Pay range is $7.00 - 9.00/hour, depending on experience.
