Colorado School of Mines track & field athlete Mark Husted has been named First Team Academic All-District VII (College Division) by ESPN The Magazine, as announced June 6 by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Husted, a distance runner who hails from Westminster(Northglenn High School), is majoring in Electrical Engineering at CSM. The owner of a 3.86 cumulative GPA, Husted is a four-time Academic All-RMAC performer in the classroom (indoor and outdoor seasons in 2007 and 2008).
As a junior in 2007-08, Husted garnered All-American honors three times, including twice at the 2008 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships (800m run, distance medley relay) and once at the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships (800m run). A four-time All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference performer in 2008 (twice First Team All-RMAC, twice Second Team All-RMAC), Husted guided the CSM men to a tie for eighth place at the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on May 22nd - 24th in Walnut, Calif.
During his sophomore season in 2007, Husted earned Second Team All-RMAC honors in three events (twice during the outdoor season) and was a member of CSM's distance medley relay team that finished ninth at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships. Husted also qualified for the outdoor national championships in the 800m run in 2007.
As a freshman at Colorado School of Mines in 2006, Husted earned Second Team All-RMAC honors during the outdoor season.
Husted, who has qualified for the Dean's List during every semester of his collegiate career at CSM, was selected as Northglenn High School's Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2004-05.
