Golden Resident Andrew Spickert to attend Whitman College

Golden resident Andrew Spickert, son of Diane and Charles Spickert, will graduate from Colorado Academy (CA) on Friday, June 5, 2009.

Attending CA since Kindergarten, Andrew's favorite subjects are biology, physiology and filmmaking. He recently traveled to the Tetons for interim with a group of students and a teacher where they hiked into the back-country, snow camped and skied.

Andrew's primary focus in the CA arts program has been filmmaking. As his final project, he wrote, produced, directed, filmed and edited a short film involving student actors. Overall, he has created over 30 short videos, many of which are ski films and are published on YouTube.com.

Andrew played varsity golf and baseball while at CA. This year he was one of the captains of the varsity baseball team, was awarded MVP and was chosen second team all-league. He will continue playing baseball in college next year.

Andrew started a company (Gone LLC) four years ago selling his own handmade crocheted hats. His business expanded to include silk-screened clothing and ski videos. An avid skier, Andrew is sponsored by several companies associated with ski clothing, equipment and accessories.

This fall, Andrew is looking forward to attending Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington to study environmental science/biology, play college baseball and continue his filmmaking.
