Rotary Club of Denver West

The Golden area welcomed its second Rotary organization with a Charter Party for the Denver West Rotary Club on Friday, February 20 at the Rolling Hills Country Club.

More than 70 revelers, representing Rotary Clubs from Longmont to Highlands Ranch, attended the festivities to welcome the establishment of the Denver West Rotary and their 20 charter members. Former Rotary District Governor Frank Sargent gave an inspiring keynote address, while current District Governor Steve Cantrell presented Denver West with the Club's Charter. Sacre Bleu, a jazz quartet, provided a swinging accompaniment.

The club's officers include Michele Haney, president; Jean Schloesslin, secretary; Cheryl McDonald, treasurer; Kimberly Rein, sergeant-at-arms; and Peter Pittman, president elect.

"We are excited to be charter members of a new Rotary club," said Haney. "It's a privilege and inspiration to work with local leaders in establishing this new club, and we look forward to projects that help build a strong community."

Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Rotarians provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.

The Denver West Club has 20 members, and meets Tuesdays at noon at the Rolling Hills Country Club. Their "parent" club, the Golden Rotary, meets Tuesday mornings at the same location. Several members of the Golden Club switched their membership to the new group in order to help start the club.
