A sign of optimism

Middle school students have put their signing skills to the test. Students at the Rocky Mountain Deaf School used sign language to present what optimism means to them. Hosted by the Optimist Club, the contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing encourages children and teens to speak publicly, build their confidence and promote an interest in writing. Three winners were chosen: Colleen Gunst, Justice Grumbach and Caleb Pendley presented how they incorporate a positive attitude into their lives. As local winners, the trio moved on to the Club level where Pendley received first place and a $2,000 scholarship.
