THR3E by THR3E
Three cutting-edge choreographers. Three world-premiere ballets. One amazing show.
THR3E by THR3E features impressive new works by
Amy Seiwert,
Lee-Wei Chao and
Artistic Director Robert Mills. This show is a triumph for both Ballet Nouveau and Colorado audiences, as it presents phenomenal artistry by nationally-acclaimed choreographers whose work has never been seen before in Colorado.
Amy Seiwert uses inventive, sometimes quirky movement that amazes audiences and has garnered broad acclaim. Ms. Seiwert won the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur Choreography Competition, and was named one of
Dance Magazine's 25 to Watch in 2005. She was recently invited to participate in the NY Choreographic Institute with New York City Ballet. Her choreography is in high demand across the country, and is in the repertoire of Smuin Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Robert Moses KIN and American Repertory Ballet. She directs im'ij-re, a contemporary ballet company in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is her first commission in Colorado.
Taiwan-born
Lee Wei Chao's Asian heritage and powerful theatrical approach permeate his choreography. He began his career with Singapore Dance Theater before joining the Joffrey Ballet in 1996 and then the Milwaukee Ballet in 1998. He was awarded the Outstanding Dancer Award by the Taiwanese Department of the Arts, and voted Best Male Taiwanese dancer by Taiwan Dance Magazine. Since 2001 Mr. Chao has been a regular guest choreographer and teacher for Milwaukee Ballet's company and school. He currently lives in San Francisco.
Artistic Director
Robert Mills' work is hypnotic and engaging. Colorado audiences have enjoyed his works for several years, including
Moulin Rouge (called "an amazing choreographic feat" by Black Tie Colorado, and "a fun dance narrative" by the Denver Post) and
face.2.face. A two time National Choreographic Plan Award winner, he has created ballets for Ballet Nouveau Colorado, Kansas City Ballet, Indiana Ballet Theater and Houston Dance Theater.
Together these influential young choreographers create an evening of fresh, different and exciting work that ends Ballet Nouveau's 5 th anniversary season on a thrilling note.
The second largest professional ballet company in the state, Ballet Nouveau Colorado has been called "a bright, talented, energetic company" by the Rocky Mountain News, "skilled and charismatic" by the Denver Post, and "The HOTTEST ballet in town" by Channel 7 News.
The run of the show includes a
special engagement at the Lakewood Cultural Center.
