25 year-old Golden firefighter
Trent Beachy was severely injured late 2008 in an automobile accident in Iowa while returning to Golden after a Thanksgiving visit with his family. He fractured his neck and is currently in Craig Hospital undergoing rehabilitation. Unfortunately, he has no health insurance and his automobile insurance coverage is capped, meaning he cannot continue rehabilitating without financial support.
Fire Department Chaplain
Kevin Kirby approached the Golden Lions Club earlier this year and asked if the Fire Department could hold a bake sale to raise funds for Trent at the Lions Annual Chili Supper. The Lions Board of Directors not only said yes, they agreed to match any funds raised. As expected, since the chili supper is a well-known community event and the community of Golden is both caring and supportive, the bake sale was very successful and raised over $1700. With the Lions match, nearly $3500 went to the Trent Beachy fund.
