The Fifth Annual Ali Meyer Foundation golf tournament will be held on Monday, July 27, at Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. and the tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. with a four-person scramble.
All proceeds are donated to
The Children's Hospital of Denver to provide rehabilitation equipment for children. Last year, the foundation raised a record $18,750 for the hospital, a 7 percent increase over the previous year's event.
Platinum sponsors this year include the following: Burg, Simpson, Eldredge, Hersh and Jardine P.C., S.P. Richards Co. and Precis E-business Systems. Gold sponsors this year include the following: Personal Attitudes, Colorado Business Bank, Colorado Capital Bank, The HON Company, DMI Office Furniture, Colorado Rockies Baseball Club, Terratectonics and Latisys (formerly Data393). The Corporate sponsor is Office Liquidators.
The non-profit Ali Meyer Foundation was established by Jefferson County residents Dennis and Valerie Meyer in memory of their daughter, Ali, who died in late 2002 after being struck by a drunk driver. The foundation raises money to help disadvantaged children who need rehabilitation equipment following accidents. It also works with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to increase awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving.
The main speaker at the event will be Dr. Susan Apkon, who cared for Ali Meyer while she was in the hospital. Silent auction items include autographed items from Denver Nuggets and Colorado Rockies players, with a Chauncey Billups basketball and a World Series autographed baseball, plus a private suite at Coors Field for 12 people at a Rockies game.
The tournament is looking for players, additional sponsors and donations for the silent auction. For more information or to volunteer to help at the event, contact Dennis Meyer at (303) 981-6303 or visit
