New West Physicians, a group practice of 47 primary care physicians serving the Front Range, moved its Internal Medicine of Wheat Ridge location to a new location in Applewood neighborhood.

Dr. Brooks and Dr. Kelly practiced medicine together at Internal Medicine of Wheat Ridge and will continue to work as a team at the new Applewood location.
Bonnie Brooks, M.D.
A native of Virginia, Dr. Brooks earned her chemistry degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va. She also obtained a master's degree in chemistry at Old Dominion University before graduating from Eastern Virginia Medical School, both located in Norfolk, Va. After completed her medical residency at Internal Medicine Spokane in Spokane, Wash, Dr. Brooks practiced in Oregon and Arizona before moving to Denver. Dr. Brooks is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the Colorado Medical Society.
Dr. Brooks became a primary care physician because she was interested in caring for a wide range of people with a variety of needs. She particularly enjoys caring for multiple members of a family and getting to know each person.
Karen Kelly, M.D.
Dr. Kelly earned an undergraduate psychology degree and medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has been caring for patients since 1989.
Originally from North Mankato, Minn., Dr. Kelly particularly enjoys supporting her patients through various stages of life and helping them work through any obstacles that get in their way. In 2002, Dr. Kelly was honored by the West Chamber of Commerce as an Outstanding Woman of Jefferson County, which recognizes extraordinary women for their contributions to their family, community and workplace.
Dr. Kelly has been recognized through the National Committee for Quality Assurance's (NCQA) Heart/Stroke Recognition Program and its Diabetes Physician Recognition Program. The Heart/Stroke Recognition Program is co-sponsored by NCQA, the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association and recognizes physicians for providing quality care to patients with cardiovascular disease or who have had a stroke. Co-sponsored by NCQA and the American Diabetes Association, the Diabetes Physician Recognition Program recognizes physicians for providing quality care to patients with diabetes. Both are three-year recognition programs. Dr. Kelly's Heart/Stroke recognition dates are March 21, 2007 to March 21, 2010, and her Diabetes Physician Recognition Program recognition dates are April 24, 2007 to April 24, 2010.
Applewood Internal Medicine is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Both Dr. Brooks and Dr. Kelley are currently taking new patients.
