The holiday season is a special time for many - gathering with friends and family and exchanging gifts over meals and enjoying the fire wrapped in a blanket on the couch.
But there are mothers and fathers who will not be able to provide a gift for their child, give them a hot meal and tuck them into a warm bed. You can make a difference in the lives of those living in our community who have fallen on hard times this year.
Making a donation is easy. Many grocery stores sponsor programs where nonperishable food is already bagged with a price tag - all you have to do is purchase it. Wild Oats Marketplace offers food tags for $10 to $20 and the money goes to Colorado families through Access Housing Inc. Albertsons is taking part in the Food for All program, also providing food tags for puchase of $1, $5 or $10 that will help families in the Rocky Mountain Region buy food. In 2005, the Food for All program raised more than $20, 000. Salvation Army bell ringers will also be accepting monetary donations.
If your organization is hosting a donation drive this holiday, post the event on www.YourHub.com. If you would like a food basket delivered in the mountain area, call Jean Dent at 303-674-2843 or to volunteer call Sandy Mathis at 303-674-2843.
