Golden's Christmas Parade a Holiday Treat

After having to cancel the first Christmas Parade of the year last weekend due to snow, the Chamber of Commerce and over 25 participating floats, cars, and local groups took to the streets this Saturday to celebrate Olde Golden Christmas.

The weather was beautiful and the sun shone down on entries as they turned the corner from 10th onto Washington and marched toward 13th Streets.Accompanied by music, holiday costumes, and an assortment of animals from dogs to Shetland ponies, the short parade made an impact.
Spectators crowded up and down Washington, and families could be seen waving to the Christmas characters, Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley, and Golden High's 24th Street Singers.

Handmade floats, a quilt-covered car, Santa on a motorcycle, Colorado School of Mines Marching Band as well as many creative entries from local businesspeople make Golden's parades a special event. The hometown feel, the quirky entries, and the chance to walk around Historic Downtown Golden and see it all dressed up for Christmas adds up to a great way to spend a Saturday morning.

Be sure to come out and take part in the fun on Saturday, the 16th and 23rdfrom 11:00 to11:30am.

The festivities continue with free horse-drawn carriage rides from 12-4pm at 13th and Arapahoe, free Newfoundland dog cart rides on Miners Alley from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, and parents and kids alike, don't miss

Breakfast with Santa on December 16th from 9 -11 am. Call 303-279-0200 to RSVP for this terrific event to benefit the Christian Action Guild.
