I am writing to enthusiastically support
Marjorie Sloan for Golden City Council in District 1. Since I moved to Golden in December 2006 (all the way from Lakewood), I have become keenly aware of many of the issues facing this city. From all that I know about Marjorie, I firmly believe that she is, by far, the best choice for this important position.
Of course, her dedication to the community through her contributions on the Planning Commission and the Downtown Character Committee speaks for itself. However, I write today because I was fortunate enough to recently work with Marjorie as Staff Counsel for the United States Court of Appeals.
Despite the complex and often taxing nature of the work there, Marjorie consistently demonstrated an incredible intellect, a thoughtful decision-making process, and compassion for everyone she worked for and with. Like me, others who know Marjorie well know her to have an exemplary character and a delightful but serious personality. In my opinion, these are the traits of a superb leader.
I have seen cities lose their character from a lack of inspired leadership. Although I am a recent transplant, I truly love Golden and I am determined to help this city maintain its reputation as the sort of place that all are proud to call home. Accordingly, I support Marjorie Sloan for City Council, and I ask the readers of this letter to vote for her in the upcoming election.
