The first Friday of every month from 5to 8 p.m., there's a party in Historic Downtown Golden.
Golden's First Friday events are centered around a goal to bring people downtown on a Friday evening to enjoy a positive, family-friendly atmosphere where shops are open for business andmusic's in the air.
Growing crowds are taking part in the free horse-drawn carriage rides, entertainment from barbershop quartets to puppet shows, face painting and balloon animals every month.
Sept. 7 will continue in this vein, bringing San Diego's TapWater to perform on Washington Avenue.
TapWater is an American jam rock experience that blends rock, funk, Latin, jazz, bluegrass, country, blues and pop into darn good music.
Their influences reflect a little something for everyone: Pink Floyd and
Willie Nelson
to
Tito Puente
and
Stevie Wonder
. Their sound captures the smooth sophistication of Steely Dan, the vibrant color of the Grateful Dead and the feelgood flavor of the Doobie Brothers.
From their bio, the band has got the friendly vibe down. "TapWater is just plain fun," remarks
Tim Jones
, who plays keys and accordion. "Everyone attending our show is instant family. Whether you come to party all night in the club or bring your kids to see us at the festival, the whole point is that you put your worries down for a while and celebrate what's good in life."
Come on down to Golden and peruse the merchants' unique shops and their special displays, offers, promotions, demonstrations, put together for First Fridays. And don't forget to stop and enjoy the sounds of TapWater!
