Staples, Inc., (Nasdaq: SPLS) the world's largest office products company, presented Outward Bound with a $10,000 donation during a celebration of its new store in Golden on Jan. 24. Staples General Manager
Ken Meienberg
joined Golden Mayor pro-tem
Karen Oxman,
Gary Wink
of the Golden Chamber of Commerce,
Scott Benefield
of the Jefferson County Board of Education and
Ken Simon
from Outward Bound in a unique ribbon-shredding ceremony to officially open the new Staples at 16630 West Colfax in Golden.
Awarded from Staples Foundation for Learning, the donation will help Outward Bound in its mission to inspire character development and self-discover in people of all ages through challenge and adventure.
Outward Bound is a nonprofit educational organization with five core programs that change lives, build teams and transform schools. Local residents are also invited to the Staples VIP event for free prizes, refreshments and a chance to visit interactive stations featuring the latest products and services from Staples.
"Staples looks forward to making it easy for businesses in Golden with our new store location," said Meienberg, general manager of Golden Staples. "We're committed to supporting organizations like Outward Bound that foster educational opportunities for Colorado residents of all ages. With this contribution, we're pleased to give back to the community that has welcomed Staples as a new neighbor."
"We are pleased Staples Foundation for Learning recognizes the value of the programs Outward Bound provides," said
Gretchen Morgan
, a School Designer for Expeditionary Learning Schools Outward Bound. "This donation will allow us to continue building character and enhancing leadership skills among young people throughout Golden."
Adding More Stores for Greater Customer Convenience
The new Golden Staples store opened to the public on Nov. 17, 2007 and celebrated its official grand opening on Jan. 24. Regular store hours are Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m. - 9 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sun. 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Golden Staples store will employ approximately 30 full- and part-time associates.
Making It Easy To Buy Office Products
The new 20, 242-square-foot store is designed to make it easy for small business and home office customers to shop for office products and services. The new Staples features more than 7,000 products, ink and toner, business machines and innovative Staples brand products, such as the new Staples MailMateTM M3 and the Staples 12-Sheet Shredder. The new store also provides other Staples signature services, including Staples Copy & Print Center, Easy Tech, Easy Rebates and the Staples Rewards program, which offers real value, real easy, on items that mean the most to customers. Staples also makes it easy for customers to make a difference for the environment - what it calls EcoEasy - by offering more than 3,000 eco-friendly products and every day in-store recycling for office technology, PDAs, cell phone and ink and toner cartridges.
