Families Need A Little Help
Contributed by: Betty Proctor on 12/7/2006

At times families experience a run of bad luck. So many carry on as best as they can without asking for help. Sometimes, however, they find it is necessary to swallow their pride and ask, even when they don't want to. Some brave folks who are trying their best are described below.

Case 6837

Raymond and Jody have seven sons. They have always struggled financially, but by working together they have been able to make ends meet. The last few years have been very rough. Raymond has been on dialysis three to four times a week due to loss of kidney function. Through all of this, he has continued to work. Jody has cystic fibrosis, yet continues to give care to Raymond. The good news is that Raymond is scheduled to receive a new kidney next month. They need help with their rent and water bill.

Case 6844

Marilyn, 49, is on her own and has always taken care of herself. She is not able to work at the moment because of health problems. She needs an MRI which requires a $200 co-pay. She says her whole life is on hold until she can find out what her medical problem is and if surgery is needed. She lost her apartment and a kind friend has taken her in until she gets the medical help she needs.

Case 6843

Tori and William have six children - ranging in age from three-year-old twins to Dave, age fourteen. They have both worked hard and provided for their family. A few months ago, Tori was laid off work and last month William was injured on the job. They have yet to receive unemployment compensation and will lose their home without some financial assistance.

Thanks to your generosity, we expect to help over 900 families and individuals in 2006. Your contributions this holiday season will be put to work quickly to help people like Raymond, Jody, Marilyn, Tori and William. One hundred percent of individual donations go directly to aid those in need. Please send your donations to Helping Hearts & Hands, 3805 Marshall Street, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. Helping Hearts & Hands is under the fiscal sponsorship of Family Tree, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. Contact me at 303-936-9043 with any questions. Hope you can help. Thank you.
