Golden Elks recognize community

On March 12th Golden Elks held an awards & recognition night.

First we presented the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of our Americanism Essay Contest with a check from the Lodge for $10.00, $15.00, and $25.00 for 1st place. The winners were (see picture) 3rd place winner was KayLynn Blatter, 2nd was Samantha Bedinger, and 1st place was Hannah Block, of course their parents were there and in support of his students was the principal of Mitchel Elementary who unbeknowst to him with his wife & kids in attendance was there to recieve Goldens Citizen of the Year Award for his support of the Elks Hoop Shoot, Drug Awareness Program and Americanism Program, Kim Summeril is Golden Elks Citizen of the Year.(see picture).

Golden also honered Fire Chief John Bales of the Golden Fire Dept. as Fireman of the Year.

Loyal Knight Ron Beach was given an award for an outstanding Americanism program.

Trustee Ed Utsch was awarded the Officer of the Year , and Wayne Rogers was given an award for excellance in Public Relations and was awarded Elk of the Year for Golden Elks Lodge, both the Officer and Elk of the year are now in the running for State Officer and Elk of the Year.

Our 1st place essay contest winner is also in the running for the State Essay contest where she could possibly win $500.00. Good Luck Hannah and Thanks to all the participants and award winners, it's people like you and your parents that make Golden such a special place to live.
