Seniors' Resource Center has announced it can provide adult day and respite services free of charge, one to three days a week for a three-month period to qualifying caregivers and seniors, courtesy of aid made possible by National Family Caregiver Funding through the Denver Regional Council of Governments.
Adult Day & Respite Services can include daily planned activity periods, nutritious and delicious meals, wellness checks, medication assistance, assistance with activities of daily living and the opportunity to make new friends. These services also allow caregivers to handle other daily responsibilities, such as work or errands.
To be eligible to apply for funding, either the caregiver or the senior receiving care must be age 60 or over. This aid is available especially for those who may find it a challenge to age in their community on a tight budget, be members of a minority population, or live in a rural community.
The grant expires in June and funds could be allocated sooner, so individuals that meet the age 60 and over qualification must contact Seniors' Resource Center without delay at 303-235-6961 to apply for free Adult Day services.
"Caregivers should contact us immediately, before funding runs out, to experience firsthand an enhancement in quality of life through services at no cost in our warm and homelike environment," said
Linda Johnston, manager of Adult Day & Respite Services.
Seniors' Resource Center's Adult Day & Respite Services currently serve residents of Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Gilpin, Jefferson and Park Counties through one facility in Wheat Ridge and two facilities each in both Evergreen and Lakewood. This service is also available to Douglas County residents through the Sky Cliff Adult Day Center in Castle Rock.
Seniors' Resource Center, a nonprofit organization, works in partnership with older persons in communities in metro Denver and mountainous areas to the west, providing centralized and coordinated service, information, education and leadership.
Our board of directors, staff and volunteers are celebrating 30 years of preserving the independence and dignity of older adults through Adult Day & Respite Services, in-home care, transportation, care management, referrals to community partners, and job training.
