It's just barely Spring but before we know it summer will be here and Golden hopping with all kinds of outdoor events.
The Best of the Best and most well known of the events is the annual Buffalo Bill Days celebration held over five days near the end of July.
Everyone in and around Golden looks forward to this celebration. This IS the 20th year the event has been run by an all-volunteer crew and Board of Directors. To recognize and highlight this signature anniversary event in Golden, I plan to post articles each month to YourHub.com covering individual events and the people that make up Buffalo Bill Days.
The fun begins on the afternoon of July 23r with the Buffalo Bill Days Golf Tournament at Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden and continues on July 24 as the Greater Golden Chamber of Commerce hosts their annual BBQ Luncheon at the historic Buffalo Rose Events Center in downtown Golden.
The main celebration kicks off at Parfet Park (10th and Washington) on Friday evening, July 25 at 5:30PM with the singing of the National Anthem and continues through 5PM on Sunday, July27.
The continuous events in the park will include music and entertainment on the main stage, arts and craft vendors, food and beverage vendors, rides and games for the kids. Saturday features the Golden Fire Department Pancake Breakfast followed by the famous Best of the West Parade and around High Noon a Wild West Show in the middle of a closed Washington Avenue along with an Orphan Car Show. Sunday morning begins with a Community Worship Service followed by "Muttin Bustin" for the kids and a Classic Car Show. Other Golden organizations like the Astor House, Clear Creek History Park and the Golden Pioneer Museum will also hold events as part of the celebration.
Visit YourHub periodically to learn more about Buffalo Bill Days, it's many events and side activities that make for a fun weekend in Golden. Mark your calendar and plan to come to downtown Golden at the end of July. Want more information or want to get involved as a volunteer? All you need to do is call the committee at 303-384-0003 or email them at goldenbuffalobilldays@msn.com.
