Mary Lynn Wagner is running for House District 23 and answered a questionnaire for YourHub.com. To read all of the candidate questionnaires, click here.

My name: Mary Lynn Wagner

My age: 56

My Family: My husband of 35 years, Peter Wagner, three awesome grown children, and 6 little wonders for grandkids, as well as a menagerie of animals make up our family. We have horses, two dogs, a cat with an attitude, a rescued dove and a parakeet.

Education: Bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii, then 2 years at Regis University for my Teaching Certificate, followed by many continuing education courses to keep my certificate active

What I do: I've been teaching for over 20 years, in Hawaii, Guam, interior Mexico, and in our gorgeous state of Colorado. For the last few years I've been a Jefferson County substitute to enable me to care for my mom who recently died from cancer.

My favorite place in town to hang out: I enjoy walking laps as a Mills Miler, in Colorado Mills Mall before hours. I've completed hundreds of miles. Table Mesa Inn in Golden, is a great restaurant. Starbucks Coffee, who can do without it?

What I like most about living here: We are avid hikers, horseback riders, and love how close the countryside is to the city.

My interests and hobbies: I love teaching and helping people reach their full potential, teaching Western Pleasure Horsemanship, hiking and horseback riding over Colorado's gorgeous terrain, singing ( have sung on TV, in musicals, with bands and groups, and at various events), and race-walking ( I've completed the Honolulu Marathon and the Windward Marathon) and researching our issues.

My favorite thing to cook: I love to come home and make a great meal and hear my husband say, "Yummm!" I love to have the kids, grandkids, and friends drop over for dinner. A house should be full of happy noise. Cooking is one way I can make a gift of love for them. I cook anything and everything but I arbhor Brussel sprouts.

People who inspire me (and how): The character and life of Jesus Christ, the characters of our Founding Fathers, A braham Lincoln's deep honesty, character, never-give-up attitude, George Washington's resolve, John Adams, Louisa May Alicott's Little Women, who were really big, dedicated, strong women for their time, my Mom and Dad, and my husband's parents have all contributed towards my inspiration, and direction.

How I have contributed to the community: Teaching children and helping them raise their self esteem, reach their goals, and learn our curriculum, working with parents, helping them with their children's problems, being a Children's Church Teacher and Co-coordinator, using our horses to provide the needed therapy a damaged child needs, working countless hours on various campaigns for different politicians, have been some of the seeds I have sown into our great community.

The biggest issues facing us now: Not only are we in an Energy Crisis, in need of politicians who cans who can/will truly help our country, We are running short of water, a limited resource. Our population will double in one generation, if the flood of illegals is allowed to go unbridled. They bring in 3rd World diseases we have no cure for. Our hospitals are going broke caring for them. Every facet of our society is getting damaged by them. But we are a people of creativity, ingenuity, good old American know how! JFK said, " In one decade we will send a man to the moon and bring him safely back to earth." He said that in 1962 and in 1969 we did just that! If we can do this, we can put our heads together, Country trumps Party, and solve these big problems.

Why I am running: I will bring New Leadership, New Ideas, and Real Change into Colorado. I'm like a dynamite stick of energy, with disciplined, practical, common sense ways to remedy Colorado's dire needs. My Web site, www.COHD23.com has the issues which I got from talking to 1,200 voters face to face, door to door, and asking them what 3 things they thought were the most dire needs of Colorado and HD23. My campaign brochure says it in a nutshell. It's a brochure of HD23. My website is one of viable, workable solutions to these problems.

I've talked to over 2,249 voters so far, and have worn through two pair of shoes, and I'm not done! I want to make Colorado and HD23 a better place for my kids, grandkids, and for the wonderful people of Colorado. I will, too!
