What I do: State Representative for House District 23 - part of Fairmount, all of Golden, Applewood, Pleasant View and the northern part of Lakewood
My favorite place in town to hang out: ByClear Creek in Golden and the Belmar Center in Lakewood
What I like most about living here:I love the mountains and being able to hike there
My interests and hobbies: Visiting with family, reading, hiking, sketching, traveling,

People who inspire me (and how): Senator
Robert Kennedy inspired me with his fight against organized crime and his work for civil rights;
Heather for her caregiving and love for her father;
Martin Luther King for his use of nonviolence to change our country;
Barack Obama for his thoughtfulness and use of community organizing to become an agent ofmeaningful change.
How I have contributed to the community: I have championed children and their safety against sexual predators; I am an advocate for neighborhood groups and working with them to reach their goals of responsible transportation development (responsibe RTD and no toll road on SH-93) and neighborhood safety (Camp George West, the Johnson Program) and transparency in government.
The biggest issues facing us now: People tell me the most pressing concerns are the economy and skyrocketing gas prices. Access to affordable health care,enewable energy and education are alsoimportant for my constituents.
Why I am running: As a medical social worker, I want to make sure every Coloradoan has accessible and affordable health care and am working with different groups towards this end. I am a strong advocate for good land use policy and a transportation vision which includes transit, light rail and bicycle lanes. As vice-chair of the House Transportation Committee, I am a fierce and outspoken foe of toll roads and their abuses. I continue to work for public safety, especially for the vulnerable, for the environment and for quality education.
