High Noon on Golden's Washington Avenue
Contributed by: Ed Dorsey on 6/12/2008

Buffalo Bill Days would not be the same without cowboys and cowgirls roaming around Washington Avenue waiting for the annual Wild West Show, one of the events during Golden's Buffalo Bill Days celebration. This year's show is being sponsored by a number of Downtown Golden merchants. The showdown takes place immediately following the Best of the West parade on Saturday, July 26th right around, you guessed it, High Noon.

Come watch a shootout right in the middle of Downtown Golden as some of the West's notorious and mean-spirited gunslingers ride into town and put on an exciting and thrilling re-enactment of how disputes were settled in the days of the old west. But don't think for a moment that the lawful citizens of Golden won't fight back and take on those villains. Yes indeed, there will be a showdown on Washington Avenue once again.

Among those scheduled to appear this year are Doc Holliday (aka David Wright), Annie Oakley (aka Barb Melfi), Buffalo Bill (aka Ralph Melfi), Pistol Packin Paula (World Champion gun spinner from Texas), Tom Brunetti, John Brunetti, Dawn Brunetti, Jeff Sailors, and the Duke Davis band, Buck Shot. They will perform trick shooting, gun spinning, horse tricks and mounted shooting.

Enjoy this fine show at noon as you spend a wonderful July 26 in Golden. Start with the Fire Department's Pancake Breakfast at the firehouse on 10th St. from 6-10 AM; the parade starts at 10AM on Washington Ave., then mosey up the street to watch the shootout and showdown, then back to Parfet Park for an afternoon and evening of music and fun.. Ya'll come you hear!
