Resurrected in 2004, the 5th annual Buffalo Bill Golf Tournament sponsored by Wells Fargo will once again kick-off the Buffalo Bill Days celebration in Golden.
Golden's own award-winning Fossil Trace Golf Club will be the location on July 23, for the tournament featuring shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. using a four-person scramble format.
This tournament is all about fun and getting in the mood for Buffalo Bill Days, by playing a round of golf with friends and relaxing afterwards with some fine Western style grub at the post tournament awards dinner.
Prizes will awarded to the first- second- and third-place teams, both gross and net. Net scores will be based on the Modified Peoria System, which levels the playing field between good and not so good golfers. Cost is $125 per player (a bargain) and includes green fees, GPS-equipped golf cart, a gift bag from Fossil Trace and of course, the fun filled awards buffet dinner.
The traveling Golden Challenge Trophy, as in the past, will be awarded to the first-place net team and plaques go to both gross and net first-place teams. Prizes will be awarded to both men and women for longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin on designated holes.
The 16th hole, a tough par 3, will be the site of the $10,000 diamond giveaway, sponsored by Creekside Jewelers in Golden, for the first golfer to make a hole in one.
The 7th hole, a tricky par 4 requiring a very accurate drive will feature Buffalo Bill (see photo) as your target. The man and woman driving their ball closest to "Bill" will receive a nice prize package from the sponsors of the hole, Miners Alley Playhouse in Golden.
Many door prizes will be handed out at the awards buffet, which features the hilarious crazy hat prizes and the screaming chicken awards for high score of the day.
