Three student-athletes from the Colorado School of Mines men's golf team have been recognized on the 2007-08 Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, as announced today by the RMAC.
To qualify for Academic All-RMAC recognition, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20-or-better, be a starter or key reserve and have completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters (or three quarters) at their current institution.
Chris Carey, a senior from Wooster, Ohio (Wooster High School), was named First Team Academic All-RMAC. A Geological Engineering major, Carey owns a 3.61 cumulative GPA at Mines. Carey, who posted an 80.32 stroke average in 22 rounds in 2007-08, missed the cut to compete as an individual at the NCAA Division II Super Regionals by just four strokes this season. Carey was also an Academic All-RMAC performer following his sophomore (2005-06) and junior seasons (2006-07).
A senior who hails from Longmont, Colo. (Longmont High School), Bill Moore garnered Second Team Academic All-RMAC laurels. Moore, who also achieved Academic All-RMAC status following his sophomore year in 2005-06, recorded a team-best 80.29 stroke average in 24 rounds this season. Moore owns a 3.44 cumulative GPA while majoring in Physics at CSM.
David Kultala, a senior from Broomfield, Colo. (Broomfield High School), earned recognition on the Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll. An Engineering Physics major who carries a 3.57 cumulative GPA, Kultala competed in seven rounds in 2007-08. Kultala also earned Academic All-RMAC honors as a junior in 2006-07.
